Description
My girlfriend has owned this car since 2010 and she used it as her daily driver until August 2020. Her late father was a mechanic and he regularly serviced it for her, and fixed any problems for her, right up until his passing last year. A new baby in 2020 required a replacement car to take an Isofix car seat, so the Freelander was parked up with the intention of perhaps using it again at a later date, but we've now decided to sell her as the MoT has expired.
It was always a good reliable car and never gave any major trouble. I had intended to get the car MOTed before selling, but I noticed a rusty hole in the sill near the rear wheel arch which would have been a failure, so we've decided to sell as for spares or repairs, rather than trying to obtain an MoT.
The paintwork is reasonable and polishes up okay, but is not quite as shiny as it appears in the photos as I had just washed the car when I took the photos!
I wouldn't say there is anything majorly wrong with the car that can't be fixed with a bit of TLC, but it is currently SORNed and the MoT has expired so can't legally be driven on the road. We do live on a smallholding though so you can do a limited test drive around the yard if you wish.
Good points.
-----------
- Alternator rebuilt by Auto-Electrician 2018
- New boot door handle fitted 2018
- 5 good tyres
- V5C document present
- Electric windows and central locking all works
- 2 keys present (1 with a keyfob, 1 without)
- Good solid and reliable 2.0 Td4 diesel engine, clutch and gearbox
- CD Autochanger
Bad points
----------
- Propshaft to rear axle removed, so now 2 wheel drive (you might consider a good point though, as less to go wrong, and slightly better fuel consumption)
- Bad rust on the bottom of the passenger door (see photos)
- Rusty hole in the sill
- Driver seat is badly worn (see photos)
- Headlining hanging down, and looking scruffy
- Interior is scruffy and could do with a good valet
- Heater motor doesn't work (I think it needs the fuse replacing).
