For sale is our beautiful camper ‘Betsy’ that we have owned for the past 4 years. She is an ex Network Rail van that we converted into a 4 berth camper, unfortunately the oil pump failed on it approx. 4 weeks ago which has caused the engine to seize. Therefore van will need towing away. I am not a mechanic but description below as accurate as possible.

Good Points

We have owned the van for the last four years with 1 previous owners. In the time we have owned I have never had any faults. The body work and underneath is in great condition for a Transit. Two brand new batteries installed this summer (with receipts to prove). She has always been looked after and regularly serviced.

When converting we stripped the van completely and installed sound deadening, full insulation and a vapour barrier. The van has drivers captain seat and a swivel twin passenger seat which convert into a large double bed. The two rear seats have 3 point seat belts with bunk beds behind. I tried to keep the conversion as simple and energy efficient as possible, LEDS, spots and USB chargers throughout rear conversion which run off a leisure battery with split charger I have also installed electric hook up for when staying on campsites.

The van also comes with an Eberspacher diesel night heater, we have only had to use this on a few occasions in the middle of winter as van is really well insulated and seems to retain the heat. Fully adjustable roof vent. Rear tap run from a foot pump. She has loads of storage space above the cab, under rear bed, roof mounted storage and 4 cupboards.

Van is solid, a couple of minor spots of rust (see photo’s) but these have been treated, just not got around to touching up with white paint (I have the paint which will pass onto to new owner). Been told the underneath is solid and a very clean example of a Transit. Rear bike rack (2 bikes), rear ladder and 2 x Thule roof bars. Front windows both come with wind deflectors

Bad points

Engine – was previously very reliable, 94000 miles with some service history. Always started first time, no smoke, no knocks and never let us down.

Couple of small bits of surface rust (shown in photos) have been treated but not yet painted white.

Needs two new front tyres, which I was going to do before MoT. Rear tyres are legal but will need replacing shortly.

MoT due 24th Oct 2022, advisories from last years MoT (suspension arm pin worn and nearside wheel bearing has slight play).
