Description

For sale , my Subaru outback with the much sort after 3.0 H6 , this Particular model in the lower road tax category. This has been 100% reliable, never let me down even though it now has the intermittent gearbox fault it still drives . I’m not going to bore on about how great this car is because it’s obvious so I will move onto all of the faults . The car intermittently goes into limp mode, stays in 3rd gear, and throws 0700 and 0768 codes which is solenoid d electrical . Still drives but accelerates slowly and limits top speed realistically to about 70 on the motorway. If the fault occurs usually switch it on and off a few times and it will clear and go back to normal . This is fixable pretty cheaply if you have the confidence and skill to open the bottom of the gearbox, the solenoids allegedly just push in and out . There has been some rust issues underneath in the past but that was dealt with and I have been spraying it regularly with under-seal the last few years which seems to keep it under control . The centre section of the exhaust has a pipe welded in which in my opinion makes a lovely noise , some might find it a bit intrusive on long journeys . Extremely minor oil leak , extremely minor coolant leak , very rarely need to top up either but advisable to check every few months . Power steering seep according to the MOT but this has never caused me a problem. I was told the sunroof didn’t work when I bought it and would not close if opened , I opened it once and it closed fine . CD stuck in interchanger. Rear brake light cracked. Slight noise from back , wheel bearing could be on the way out. I change the oil and filter every year and when I was doing more miles it was serviced regularly at the garage , loads of history . Could do with a good service to get it tip top , needs rear discs and pads for the next MOT and tyres . Have some spare wheels in reasonable condition with good tyres on and a new reversing light which I can negotiate for both separately to the sale of the car . Boot lid handle doesn’t spring back but can easily be moved by hand and open and closed fine. This car is very scruffy inside and out so don’t expect a show pony , it’s been reliable workhorse for me and I have absolutely loved driving it . If it wasn’t for the gearbox issue I would keep it but don’t have the time or expertise to repair it. In summary there are lots of faults with this car but it is a lot of fun and is ideal to shift stuff around , with the gearbox repaired this car will go for years . I strongly recommend that if you are not handy with the spanner’s you look elsewhere. This is spares or repair no warranty given or implied , sold as seen. Any trial welcome and if you are serious I will get the ramps out so you can look underneath.
